Carolyn was born March 27,1948 in Fordyce, Arkansas to the late Odie and Earlee Allen. She was the seventh of nine children. She transitioned from this life into her heavenly home on February 6, 2024.
Learning and Growing
Carolyn’s early education was completed at Calhoun County Training School. She furthered her education at Shorter College, Philander Smith College and the University of Central Arkansas receiving a BA and MSE Degrees. After graduation from Philander Smith College, she married Charles Robinson Jr. This union lasted 43 years until his untimely passing. To this union their lovely daughter, Robbie Shepree Robinson was born.
Growing in Christ
Carolyn accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She joined Enon Missionary Baptist Church. She has always believed it is important to be actively involved in serving the Lord. She was a charter member of Christway Missionary Baptist Church where she actively served in the church mission, choir, Sunday School, and many other church ministries.
“May the Work I’ve Done Speak for Me”
Carolyn began her work career as a teacher. She taught for a total of 15 years. She took a break from teaching after five years and started working for the Internal Revenue Services. During her 25 years with the IRS she worked as head of development and training for 15 years. Also, she worked in other departments with the IRS to give her a total of 25 years of service. In addition, she worked as a loan assistant fiduciary over Housing and Urban Development at the Veterans Administration for 5 years.
“My Community Involvement”
Carolyn’s service to others was demonstrated daily. She was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. (LRAC). She served as the Treasurer of the Shorter College Alumni Board for 12 years. She chaired and participated in the Philander Smith College Golf Tournament annually, as well as supporting many other community organizations.
“I Love My Family”
Carolyn was very proud of her family and was blessed to find love again with her wonderful
husband George. He has always been very attentive, loving, and supportive to Carolyn and for that, the family will forever be grateful. Carolyn is survived by her husband George; her lovely daughter Robbie Shepree Robinson - Cobbin (Jon); three bonus children, Norman Walker, Patricia Allen (Antione), Joyce McDaniel (Tony); eleven grandchildren, Kalon Robinson-Goodman, DaRon Galvin, Bryson Cobbin, DeVon Cobbin, Dre-Sean Cobbin, Chole Vann, Autumn Allen, Ava Allen, Lauren McDaniel, Lyla McDaniel and Tony McDaniel Jr. One Great Grandchild, Paris Gavin (Tasia Calvert- Paris’ Mommy); three sisters, Bobbie Yarbrough-Traves, Maxine Atkinson (Ray) and Arneicee Triplett. She is preceded in death by her dad Odie Allen, mom Earlee Allen, two brothers, John Wille Allen, Melvin “Billy” Allen; three sisters, Hazella Shelton, Carlee Davis and Odessa Harris. Carolyn will truly be missed by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
