Embral Nicole Matthews was born June 20, 1986, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Ricky and the late Tonya Perkins- Matthews.
Embral accepted Christ at the Greater St. John Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Sherman McKenzie.
She graduated from Central High School in May 2004. After graduation her testimony began. Embral was diagnosed with Lupus in December 2004 which led to renal kidney failure. Embral endured many surgeries, hospital stays, and several dialysis treatments but yet lived to fight another day.
Embral completed her earthly journey on January 27, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital. She is united with her mother, Tonya Perkins-Matthews, her maternal grandmother, Emma Jean Wiley, and her paternal grandfather Pete Matthews.
She is survived by her father, Ricky Matthews; siblings: Neah Perkins (Calvin), Ryan Matthews, Rickey Thomas, Richard Stith, and Resheka Banks; Her nephew, who was like a son to her, Nickalous O’Ryan Conley; Her maternal grandfathers: MacArthur Perkins (Sue) and Herman Wiley and paternal grandmother: Joyce Matthews; aunts: Shayla Alexander, Ramona Lewis, Tara Scott, Angela Webb (Ralph), and Felicia Matthews; and uncle Bryan Matthews. Special cousins: Kenny Branson (Kristen), Noah Alexander, and Coby Grace; special friends: Whitney McKenzie, Shatanna Givens, Cindy Thomas, Ambrea Reed, and Temesha Tyler; and a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins, and church family.
